Tokyo was selected as the site to hold Olympic Games in 2020. In fact, Tokyo was selected 6 times in history. Japan won the site in 1940 Olympic Gamesin both summer and winter (Tokyo and Sapporo), but Japan canceled it because of Japan-China War. After all, it was officially canceled though Helsinki, Finland and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany was subsequently selected.
In 1964, Tokyo was selected again. It symbolized hyper recovery of Japan also known as “Miracle in the East.” It was the first Olympic which people of colour hold in the world and many countries in Asia and Africa which won independence after the World War II, making the meeting the largest countries participated in at this time. Also, Seiko, a Japanese clock maker, achieved no trouble in calculating time during the competition at the first time in the world.
In 1972, Sapporo was selected as the site of Winter Olympic Games. It was the first Olympic Games in Asia. It succeeded very well and Mitsubishi, a Japanese car maker even sold a car named “Sapporo” in North America.
In 1998, Nagano was selected as the site of Winter Olympic Games. At ending ceremony, the MC asked “Where is our home town?” to the audience and they answered “The Earth!” This Winter Olympic Games was held in the most southern place in the world.
And in 2020, Olympic Games will come back to Tokyo again. After 9 years, I hope Fukushima disaster will be completely safe and under control. It’ll ignite Japanese economy when the consumption tax will rise to 10 per cent in 2015.
Can’t wait for Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, Excited!
…But I’m not sure I’ll be in Japan then, Hahaha
